On Friday, former enemy Magic Johnson was giving out praise in heaps to current Celtics players. Sitting down for a lengthy interview with ESPN and ABC (compiled by Sports Media News), Johnson touched on all sorts of subjects. Everything from Christmas day games to the Dodgers to ESPN’s new NBA studio was on the table. First, Johnson called Rajon Rondo the “best all-around” point guard in the NBA, throwing in the caveat that Deron Williams and Chris Paul may be better “pure” point guards. Then Johnson threw some praise Paul Pierce‘s way, as well, hot on the heels of his 40 points against Cleveland on Wednesday. “Yeah, Paul is like a little brother,” said Johnson. “I’ve played pickup games with Paul when he was up‑and‑coming, so it’s great to see him put all that work in himself to make himself one of the greatest that’s ever played the game.” Johnson specifically praised Pierce’s ability to score many different ways, saying that’s how he’s been able to remain an effective N

The Boston Celtics aren’t very good right now

Paul Pierce and the Boston Celtics aren’t very good right now Celtics fans everywhere keep waiting for the Boston Celtics run, the run that will take them back to the top of the Atlantic Division and into the higher seeds in the Eastern Conference. They did it last year just after the all-star break. It seems as if they should be able to do it this year. These Boston Celtics, however...

Chris Paul's son decked out in Jordan gear

Chris Paul put this photo of his son, Lil Chris on Instagram Friday night in all Jordan brand everything. The precocious three-year old is a regular at Staples Center and always provides his dad with insights into his game. For example, earlier this week, Chris Paul had dunk against the Hornets. Something we don’t see to [...]

Pierce's 35 Points Not Enough as Celtics Fall to Bucks 99-94 in OT

From a basketball purist point of view, this game was very ugly. No one on the Celtics could hit the broad side of a barn except Paul Pierce. In fairness, some of the shots were missed due to being hacked or bumped and no fouls were called. The Celtics 3 times had leads of 10 points and gave every one up as the result of sloppy and passive play and the inability to hit a shot...

Recap: Paul Pierce ain’t dead yet

In the effort at full disclosure, I proclaimed Paul Pierce “finished” during an afternoon IM session with John. I may have been wrong. The Truth torched Cleveland for 40 points and 6 three pointers in the Celtics 103-91 win. The Cavs are awful and played without  Anderson Varejao (knee) tonight, but who are we to be picky? A win is a win. The Green: Pierce shot 13-16 (6-7 3FG...

Celtics looking to stop three-game snide

With the Boston Celtics mired in a three-game losing streak, 35-year-old Paul Pierce decided to take matters into his own hands. The All-Star forward will try to build off his historic effort and lead the Celtics to their sixth straight home win on Friday night against the Milwaukee Bucks. Pierce turned back the clock with a season-high 40 points on Wednesday in a 103-91 home win...

CP3 Dunked, But His Son Is Pretty Sure It Didn’t Happen

Here’s a video of Chris Paul throwing down a two-handed dunk. The Mayan apocalypse might actually be upon us.The best part of the clip is that his own son didn’t believe it happened. Hold on to your butts, because this is the most adorable thing you’re going to read today. From Kevin Arnovitz on Twitter, by way of The Basketball Jones:Well, technically he’s right. Maybe...

Pierce scores 40 to lead Celtics over Cavs

BOSTON (AP) -- Paul Pierce scored 25 of his season-high 40 points in the second half, carrying the Boston Celtics to a 103-91 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night. Pierce made 10 of 11 shots from the floor after halftime, hitting his first eight -- including his initial three 3-point attempts. He finished 13 of 16 from the field. Rajon Rondo added 20 points and eight...

Celtics don't let Cavaliers come back, win 103-91

Mark L. Baer / USATODAY Sports It was clear that something was wrong with the Celtics team (especially their defense without KG), and thus came tonight the most significant lineup shake-up this year which sent KG back to 4 and starts Collins at 5. It turned out that move wasn't a bad one as the Celtics rode 40 points from Paul Pierce to beat the Varejao-less Cavaliers 103-91...

Recap: Insult to injury

I don’t know where to start, so I’m just going to get to the point: other than Paul Pierce, the C’s basically could not hit a shot to save their lives for most of the 2nd half and OT. Monta Ellis and the Bucks hung-around all evening and finish the C’s off 99-94 in OT. The Bucks even tried to give the game back to Boston by blowing a 7 point lead with under a minute left...

Bucks @ Celtics: Incredible Game, Unfortunate Ending

Paul Pierce has 75 points in his last two games.  He dropped 40 on the Cavs on Wednesday.  You do the math.  In a wild evening’s most competitive tilt, Pierce was at his best when his team needed him most.  At 35 years old, one of the greatest players in the history of basketball’s most storied franchise continues to age extremely gracefully. Twelve of Paul’s game-high...

Jason Terry takes a shot at Ray Allen while praising Paul Pierce

Jason Terry has been trying to become one of the vocal leaders of the Boston Celtics since coming to the team this past offseason, but by the numbers it doesn’t appear he has been all that effective. The Celtics are 13-12 and have been incredibly inconsistent, both offensively and defensively. Terry’s play has been the same. Paul Pierce scored a season-high 40 points on Wednesday...

Bucks prevail over Celtics in OT

Monta Ellis scored five of his 27 points in overtime and the Milwaukee Bucks beat the Boston Celtics 99-94 Friday night in the teams' final meeting this season. Milwaukee prevailed despite blowing a seven-point lead late in regulation. The Bucks won for the sixth time in eight games, taking three of four against the Celtics, who had a five-game home winning streak snapped despite...

Comments from the Other Side - Bucks 12/21

The Bucks did what they had to to win but I'm convinced after watching this again that many of the missed shots were due to fouls not being called on the Bucks. Yes there were open misses but there were also 3 KG layups that missed because he was hacked on the arm. The officials were terrible and it culminated in Jeff Green bleeding on the floor while play went on and the Bucks...

Jason Terry takes shot at LeBron James, and Ray Allen?

While discussing Paul Pierce's 40 point night in a post game interview, Jason Terry praised the Captain for staying in Boston his whole career.  Terry also used it as an opportunity to take a quick jab at LeBron James, and possibly Ray Allen depending on how you interpret it. Here's the quote: His willingness to stick through the tough times and not just jump off, '...
