The Seattle Mariners have declined catcher Miguel Olivo’s option for next season.
Olivo was expected to make $3 million next season. But now he will receive a $750,000 buyout from the Mariners.
He will become a free agent five days after the World Series ends. When he hits the market, he will likely sign as a backup for a team.
He had a .222 batting average this season in 323 plate appearances. In 87 games, he had 12 home runs and 29 RBI’s.
