Tour de France competitor Mark Cavendish was reportedly doused with urine by a spectator during his Stage 11 time trial on Wednesday.Cavendish's team manager says the incident was believed to be in response to a crash that happened on Tuesday, when Cavendish collided with Tom Veelers near the finish line of Stage 10, as both riders tried to track down eventual stage winner Marcel Kittel. The wreck caused Veelers to crash, but Cavendish managed to avoid any hiccup.According to BBC, Cavendish initially thought the liquid was water, but not after he got a taste of it."We are happy that we don't have the same problems like some in football who have the hooligans, but in other ways, cyclists are very touchable and you cannot avoid that 100,000 to 200,0000 people from start to finish," Lefevere said. "Some people have a bad behavior."Teammate Jerome Pineau took to Twitter to express his disappointment with the situation.“Yesterday I was so proud about the support but today I am ashamed. Ashamed when my friend Mark Cavendish tells me he’s been whistled and even sprayed with urine on the course. It’s scandalous.”Cavendish, 28, finished the Stage 11 time trial in exactly 42 minutes. The British native currently sits in 149th place out of 182 riders overall.Via NBC Sports
