One of the Miami Marlins' top minor-league prospects enjoyed quite a night Thursday.
Jake Marisnick hit a pair of grand slams as Double-A Jacksonville routed Pensacola 11-2. Marisnick had home runs in the seventh and eighth and tied a Southern League record with nine RBIs.
Not bad for a guy who entered the game on a 2-for-26 slump.
"It was awesome," Marisnick told MiLB.com. "All the guys were pretty fired up for me. They did a great job tonight, getting on, taking walks and laying off good pitches."
Marisnick, a Tampa native who was acquired from the Blue Jays in the offseason, also said he received some advice from the Marlins' Logan Morrisson, who is rehabilitating in Jacksonville after a knee injury. Morrison told him to relax and not press as much at the plate.
According to MiLB.com, no Southern League player has had two grand slams in a game since the website began in 2005.
