Miami Marlins third baseman Placido Polanco was hit on the helmet by a pitch during Friday night’s contest against the San Francisco Giants. While it didn’t initially appear the veteran infielder was facing concussion symptoms, he later showed signs, causing the Marlins to place him on the seven-day disabled list, according to Joe Frisaro of MLB.com. The Marlins were initially hopeful that Polanco wouldn’t require time off as a result of the bean ball. However, considering Polanco was feeling woozy recently, manager Mike Redmond told reporters that the decision was made to shut Polanco down for a week. "Polanco was diagnosed with a concussion," Miami manager Mike Redmond said. "He's going to go on the seven-day DL. We were, obviously, hoping that wasn't the case. But the next day he realized it was a little bit more severe, and he did have a concussion." After being hit in the head by Santiago Casilla’s 94-mph fastball Friday night, Polanco said he was feeling much better Saturday. While he didn’t have a headache, he did say that he was feeling a little dizzy. That dizziness has developed into an overall wooziness, prompting the Marlins to make the roster move. The Marlins replaced Polanco by calling Gil Velazquez up from Triple-A. They made room for Velazquez on the roster by placing Marcell Ozuna on the 60-day DL. Henderson Alvarez does not care for bunting

Miami Marlins pitcher Henderson Alvarez squared up to bunt against the Giants’ Matt Cain on Saturday, but when he saw a Cain fastball heading right toward him, understandably, he bailed. But Henderson’s bat did not bail. Instead, the lumber levitated for a second and bunted the ball anyways, deflecting the pitch into foul territory. It was something you certainly don’t see...
