After spending time playing in Israel and the NBA's Developmental League, former Marquette guard Vander Blue will sign a 10-day contract with the Boston Celtics and make his NBA debut. The signing was first reported by Yahoo Sports and later confirmed by Blue via Twitter. Boston is short at guard with Jerryd Bayless out with a toe injury and Avery Bradley injuring his ankle Tuesday night against Miami. "God is amazing! I'm speechless right now....all it took was patience...." Blue tweeted on Tuesday night. After surprising many by forgoing his senior season at Marquette, Blue spent the preseason with Philadelphia after going undrafted. He averaged 6.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.2 steals in 15.2 minutes per game in five exhibition games with the 76ers before getting released a week before the regular season began. Blue signed with Maccabi Rishon LeZion of the Israeli Super League in October and averaged 11.4 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.6 ste...

Rajon Rondo: 'A guy you go to battle with'

Credit shesgamesports.comUndoubtedly, Rondo isn't perfect. He's been known to occasionally takes games off and obviously isn't the best scorer. For a generally even-keeled guy, the 6'1 PG definitely has a boiling point.Despite the detractions, the connect 4 god has the capability of doing things very few can. After all, who the hell posts 18 17 and 20? Rondo's...

Video: Joel Anthony talks trading in his Heat jersey for a Celtics one

This was filmed prior to last night's game, but gives you an extended interview with Joel Anthony, who comes to Boston with few expectations. For his part Anthony says the trade was "a little tough at first," but he views Boston as a good situation for him moving forward. I haven't heard many (by "many" I mean any) Celtics fans excited for the arrival...

Chris Johnson Surprises And Other Impressions From Celtics’ Loss to Heat

When Danny Ainge brought Chris Johnson in for a workout last week, Ainge definitely thought, “You know, this looks like a guy who could score 11 points off the bench and almost help us steal a road game against the Miami Heat.” Or something like that. Johnson, who was inked to a 10-day contract on Friday, made the most of his debut with the Celtics on Tuesday. The former Dayton...

Philadelphia 76ers' Sixth Man Tony Wroten Could Return Soon

Philadelphia 76ers' sixth man Tony Wroten is healing faster than anticipated, and may return to the court sometime in the next week after suffering what was originally deemed as a "serious ankle injury" in last Saturday's 103-78 demolishing by the Chicago Bulls. The surprisingly talented backup point guard has missed five games this season due to illness or injury...

Ainge Remains Focused On Celtics' Long-Term Outlook

After a strong start to the season, the Boston Celtics have lost 15 of 17 games. Danny Ainge has maintained that the franchise would focus on their long-term outlook this season. “The losing is not as hard to take as what I don’t like to see happen is the losing of one’s spirit and passion for the game,” Ainge said when asked about the recent losing. “And the game is easy...

Should the Celtics Trade Jeff Green?

The Celtics fell to an abysmal 14-29 last night after losing to a D-Wadeless Miami Heat. To make matters worse, Avery Bradley was hurt in the process. Now if you have been reading my articles at all for the past 2 months you would know that I am the farthest thing away from a “tanker”. No team should ever tank under any circumstances, it is Un-American. That being said, the Celtics...

Getting Phil Pressey more minutes was part Ainge's plan with the Crawford trade

The recent trade of Jordan Crawford and MarShon Brooks to the Golden State Warriors did exactly what it was supposed to do- it helped Danny Ainge and the Celtics front office to accumulate more assets that will help the franchise speed through the rebuilding process. With the return of Rajon Rondo and acquisition of Jerryd Bayless, the Celtics backcourt- for the first time this...

Chris Johnson Cherishes Opportunity

Fresh out of the D-League on a 10-day contract from the Boston Celtics, the 23-year old forward Chris Johnson was a pleasant suprise in last night's Celtics-Heat matchup. With Jerryd Bayless out and Avery Bradley leaving the game due to injury, the Celtics were desperately searching for production, and Johnson answered the call. In about 25 minutes, Johnson scored 11 points ...

Kevin Garnett is excited for his return to Boston but even more so now that his "little brother" Rajon Rondo is back playing for the Celtics. From the New York Post's Tim Bontemps:“Absolutely,” Garnett said when asked if Rondo being on the court will make his return to Boston mean even more. “That’s a little brother, man. We all grew together. When we grew,...

Paul Pierce not surprised Rajon Rondo is back on the court already

KG has more boards per minute than any of his seasons in Boston

As if there was ever any doubt or evidence needed that Kevin Garnett is the consummate professional a crazy stat comes out to further solidify this reputation. According to Alex Raskin at the Wall Street Journal Garnett has been an absolute beast on the boards for New Jersey this season: But on a per-minute basis, Garnett is rebounding more this season than in any of his years in...

Rajon Rondo’s Minutes Restriction Loosened For Celtics’ Game Against Miami Heat

Rajon Rondo will not be allowed to go the full 40-plus minutes he prefers to lay in such games, but he will get a bit more leeway Tuesday when the Celtics take on the Miami Heat. Rondo will be available for 20-25 minutes in Miami, the Celtics announced. That’s a far cry from some of the bigger minutes totals he has logged against the Heat over the years, but Celtics coach Brad...
