After two rounds Martin Kampmann was undoubtedly behind on the judges scorecards heading into the final round of his welterweight main event against Thiago Alves at UFC on FX 2. However, it wouldn’t get any easier in the final frame as he struggled against the stand-up of Alves.

In fact, things were looking dire for Kampmann who was rocked by an Alves right hand late in the round. However, Alves chose to plow in for a take down inside of following up with strikes. That left Kampmann with the opening that he needed as the Xtreme Couture fighter was able to catch Alves in a guillotine on the way in.

Kampmann locked on the choke which force Alves to tap with just 48 seconds remaining in the fight. With the improbably turn of events, Kampmann has now won two fights in a row as he improves his record to 19-5.
