When the 2012 season started in Happy Valley, it well, wasn’t very happy. Joe Paterno had passed away after an abrupt firing, Jerry Sandusky was still in the headlines and to top it all off, the Nittany Lions started the season losing two straight to non-conference opponents.
That’s what makes it so impressive that Bill O’Brien was able to rally his “fighters” to an 8-4...
Penn State piled up more Big Ten trophies, this time for conference Coach and Freshman of the Year.
Newbill, Marshall got little help as the Nittany Lions fell to the struggling Eagles at the BJC. The game was part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
