MLB Injury News:
Los Angeles Dodgers' center fielder Matt Kemp, who has been out since July 5 with a shoulder injury, hit against live pitching on Friday and feels ready to come off the disabled list on Sunday.
As reported by Andrew Simon of MLB.com,
"Kemp took swings against left-hander Ted Lilly in a simulated game
consisting of six or seven at-bats, and said he had no problems. The
outfielder will do the same on Saturday. He said it's difficult to tell
if he feels like himself until he gets into a real game."
""I don't know. We'll see when I start playing," Kemp said. "It's hard
to tell. Practice is totally different from the game. But I feel good.""
Kemp believes that he wont need to have a Minor League rehab assignment. Manager Don Mattingly seems to agree stating, "He's probably had enough of [rehab assignments]."
If Kemp is activated on Sunday, he will have missed a total of 35 games this season. He played in only 106 games last season and batted .303 with 23 home runs and 69 runs batted in. So far this season, he is batting .254 with only 4 home runs in 224 at bats.
