Just a few weeks ago, the Dallas Mavericks suspended guard Delonte West indefinitely. He was allowed back with the team shortly thereafter, but he’s clearly not out of the dog house just yet.
The troubled guard hasn’t been able to stay out of trouble throughout his career. He openly suffers from bipolar disorder, which explains some of his outbursts and drastic mood swings.
The Mavericks are experiencing this first hand.
According to ESPN:
“We have suspended Delonte for conduct detrimental to the team,” president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson said in a statement. “The suspension is effective immediately and no other statements will be issued.”
It’s unclear exactly what happened to cause Delonte West’s suspension, but we’ll keep an eye out for any news. We don’t like to speculate on these things, so we’ll wait and see.
West is a talented guard, although he has bounced around a bit in his career. He brings a lot of value on both ends of the floor, and can play both guard positions.
Last season, Delonte West started in 33 games and averaged 9.6 points, 3 assists, and 1.3 steals in 24 minutes per game.
