One of Texas A&M's most hyped freshmen may have already played his last down of 2013. The Aggies are exploring the option of a medical redshirt for Ricky Seals-Jones, the nation's No. 1 wide receiver in the 2013 recruiting class. Jones caught a 71-yard touchdown pass against Rice in Texas A&M's season opener, but sat the following week after suffering a knee injury. He played sparingly in last week's loss to Alabama. On his radio show Tuesday, coach Kevin Sumlin said the possibility of a medical redshirt is an "ongoing discussion." "We're going to do what's best for him," Sumlin told host Dave South. "He's injured and he tried to go a little bit on Saturday and it's still not right." Players must appear in three or fewer of a team's scheduled games to remain eligible for a medical redshirt. Seals-Jones has played in just two for Texas A&M. If granted a medical redshirt, Seals-Jones would retain his year of eligibility and still have four remaining after the season. We're doing everything that's right for him because he is a special talent," Sumlin said. "For him to lose a year if something is not correct and he's not comfortable ... we're not going to do that." Seals-Jones, a 6-foot-5, 220-pound native of Sealy, Texas, has caught three passes for 84 yards on the season.
