Chicago Bears defensive tackle Henry Melton and receiver Earl Bennett expect to be ready for the season opener this week after being sidelined by concussions.
Out since the first preseason game, Melton said Monday he expects to suit up against the Cincinnati Bengals. So did Bennett, who was injured early in training camp.
Coach Marc Trestman said it's ''plausible'' Bennett could miss the opener. He said that will depend on ''how the rest of the week goes.''
He also said linebacker D.J. Williams remains day to day with a calf injury and that the Bears will see how he practices Wednesday and Thursday before deciding if he'll play this week.

Cincinnati Bengals (0-0) at Chicago Bears (0-0)
With the Ravens having a poor off-season (at least in the general public’s eyes) and the Steelers coming off an 8-8 season, the Bengals have been popularly anointed the best team in the AFC North and the likely division champ. This does make some sense. They probably have more non-quarterback talent than any team in that division...
