Take away Floyd Mayweather’s gambling, his penchant for being obnoxious at times, and his flair for being arrogant, and what you have is essentially a boxing genius. People sometimes can’t see that because they get caught up in other things Floyd.  Other athletes are aware of that though, and usually always pay homage. After Floyd put on a clinical boxing session against Robert Guerrero last weekend, Lakers guard Kobe Bryant sent out a tweet calling Mayweather Jr., ”Bobby Fischer with gloves,” a genuine reference to the former 1970′s chess champion that many considered a genius. Mayweather and Bryant are one in the same in some ways, and if you study them long enough, you see some similarities.  Lakers forward Metta World Peace can see those similarities, and told Yahoo Sports, that “Bryant and Money Mayweather have a lot in common.” “They have a lot in common,” World Peace told Yahoo! Sports. “When you get great athletes and look at them you see these similarities in the way their mind works. “There is this focus and mindset that comes from knowing you have the physical and technical ability to outperform your opponent, that you are starting out with that advantage already in your pocket. From there it is about executing when it matters, and they have both done that time and time again.” World Peace of course was able to acknowledge that the one difference might be Floyd being a boxer in a sport by himself, and Bryant having to work with teammates. “Sometimes Kobe tries too hard,” World Peace said. “He wants to win so bad, and it makes him want to do a little bit too much. He feels that pressure of needing to try to carry his teammates on his shoulders and get them over the line. Kobe is more flashy that Floyd, but basketball is also that kind of sport. “If you are flashy in basketball and make a mistake, you might lose the ball. If you do it in boxing, you could get knocked out. Floyd just wants to get the job done and that is what he did against Guerrero. In boxing, that is how you are going to last for a long time. You don’t see a lot of boxers sticking around for as long as Floyd and still beating everyone like that.”

Judge: No auction yet of Kobe Bryant's stuff

A federal judge in California has ruled an auction house cannot sell, destroy or otherwise dispose of Kobe Bryant memorabilia offered by the NBA star's mother while courts sort out where the case should be decided. The case revolves around a spat between Bryant and his mother and is playing out coast to coast and in more courts than a playoff series. According to a court filing...

Nicknamed the ‘Black Mamba,’ hopefully Kobe Bryant inflicts a paralyzing bite on his villainous mother in a Jersey courtroom

In response to his bloodsucking mother, Pamela, arranging to peddle $450,000 worth of memorabilia to Goldin Auctions, Los Angeles Lakers icon Kobe Bryant is in court battling to regain the hundreds of items before the June sale occurs. Selected by the Charlotte Hornets 13th overall in the 1996 NBA Draft, the bulk of mementos come from Bryant’s playing days at Lower Merion High...

Kobe's family feud to ruin Mother's Day

We wonder why athletes abuse alcohol, self-medicate with marijuana, coke, groupies and hookers, extend/enhance their careers with PEDs, go broke shortly after they retire, and then we learn that Kobe Bryant and his mother are embroiled in a nasty lawsuit over his childhood memorabilia. She wants an "additional" home in Nevada and a $450,000 down payment. Kobe countered...

Why “24″ & Jack Bauer Coming Back to TV, Should Be Inspiring to Kobe Bryant

Before Twitter, back when you needed a college email for Facebook, before women took creep photos on iPhones, before LeBron’s hairline disappeared, before the blogging boom and new age media took over, I was around writing stories, hoping one day more than just me and my mom would read the site. I am very proud of my older work, like I said it was before the new age media blogging...

Kobe Bryant’s Parents Say They Have a Right to Sell His Memorabilia

This really has nothing to do with memorabilia and everything to do with Vanessa Bryant. Kobe’s parents, fairly or not believe Kobe treats her and her family better than them. The way they are showing their anger is by trying to sell his stuff. It is a bit petty, but they aren’t backing down from it. Kobe’s mom and dad — Pamela and Joe — both filed sworn declarations in...

Kobe: Mom wasn't given permission to sell my stuff

CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) -- Kobe Bryant says in a court filing that he never gave his mother permission to sell mementos from his high school days and early professional basketball career. Bryant is in a court battle over whether hundreds of items can be auctioned off. Pamela Bryant says the NBA star told her the memorabilia was hers. She arranged earlier this year to auction it off through...

Kobe 8 System ‘Purple Platinum’

It's rare to see a player's personal edition shoe released. But that's exactly what Nike is doing on Saturday, May 11th with the Kobe 8 System ‘Purple Platinum’. Kobe Bryant's Los Angeles Lakers are already eliminated from the playoffs and he's recovering from surgery but during the season he wore a colorway of this sneaker. For starters, the shoe...

Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s ex Josie Harris post photo of them boo’d up in bed

I’m not quite sure what Floyd Mayweather jr.’s ex, Josie Harris is trying to do with this. Late Sunday night – which was Mother’s Day – Josie posted a photo on Instagram of she and Floyd curled up in bed together. Floyd was sleeping… I wonder if this bothers Floyd’s fiancé, Shantel Jackson? Floyd did say you can have as many woman as you can afford…Ms. Jackson...

Mayweather-Guerrero fight draws 1 million PPV

Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s win over Robert Guerrero was an artistic success, but not a box-office smash. The Showtime network said Friday that early tallies show the fight will exceed 1 million pay-per-view buys. That's short of the 1.5 million buys for Mayweather's previous fight against Miguel Cotto. The fight last Saturday was the first for Mayweather on Showtime under...

Floyd Mayweather’s ex Josie Harris still sleeping in bed with him

Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Josie Harris apparently still have a pretty good relationship despite their tumultuous past. Harris and Mayweather have three children together. A domestic violence incident between them in 2010 led to Mayweather being sentenced to jail for 90 days last year. Despite that charge and a nasty custody battle, the two are still intimate. Harris told Yahoo!...
