Michigan State was a large part of the planning and success of the inaugural Carrier Classic basketball game on the USS Carl Vinson naval ship this past Veterans Day.  North Carolina beat Michigan State off the coast of San Diego.  They won’t be a part of this upcoming Carrier Classic, but athletic director Mark Hollis is hoping his men’s hoops team will play in the 2013 event. This year’s game will feature Connecticut and a yet-to-be-determined opponent and will be played on the East Coast.  Hollis commented on the possibility of the Spartans returning to the 2013 game.  ”There is nothing solidified,” Hollis said Thursday. “We’re looking at the possibility of something in ’13 in Florida. It’s difficult to tie one of those billion-dollar warships down two years in advance, but if we did so, we’d want to take it to Florida.” Hollis said that no opponent has been set, but he has an idea of who he’d like to face.  ”I’d like to play Notre Dame in basketball,” he said last week
