Maybe it was the fact that the sun finally came out on an overcast, dreary day at Churchill Downs the instant "My Old Kentucky Home" was played as the horses hit the track. Maybe it was the racing gods feeling guilty about the cruel twist of fate a certain trainer was handed? again ? before the most important race in thoroughbred racing. But enter jockey Calvin Borel, who saved the day by doing what he does best on every first Saturday in May: winning the Kentucky Derby.
