DAVID WRIGHT, 3B MMO PLAYER OF THE WEEK David Wright is officially rolling, and despite the lack of production and support around him, he continues to produce and be the leader of this team. Wright batted .300/.400/.350, with six hits, a double, a sacrifice fly, five RBI, and stolen base as he helped lead the Mets offensive attack last week. Wright reached base in all six games the Mets played this past week, with six hits and four walks. Taking it a step further, the 30-year-old has reached base safely in 21 of the Mets 23 games this season. Terry Collins shook up the lineup this week and moved Wright into the cleanup spot for a few games, before moving him back into the three-hole. The third baseman has not yet begun to show much in the way of power, having just two long balls on the season. However, he continues to hit and drive in runs seemingly on a nightly basis. To date, the Mets captain is batting .309/.436/.506, with two home runs, four doubles, three triples, and 19 RBI. H...

David Wright Questionable For Tonight

The bad news about the Mets keeps getting worse. David Wright, who was supposed to rest his stiff neck last night, was used as a pinch-hitter and now he’s questionable for tonight’s game at Miami, While it is conjecture Wright might have done something to aggravate his condition, the question can’t help be asked. Seriously, is winning a game in April worth losing Wright for...

Mets' David Wright questionable to play Tuesday

Third baseman David Wright was scratched from the New York Mets' lineup last night due to a neck injury. He doesn't view the stiffness as "that big of a deal," but he told reporters -- including Adam Rubin of ESPN New York -- that he's not sure when he'll be able to return to the lineup. "Like I said, I played through it yesterday, so it'...

Mets' Wright sits out at Miami with stiff neck

New York Mets third baseman David Wright was held out of the starting lineup Monday night at Miami because of a stiff neck, and said he hoped to miss only one game. Wright said neck spasms began to bother him during Sunday's loss against Philadelphia, and he felt worse when he woke up Monday. ''It's not something I'm worried about,'' Wright said before...

David Wright scratched from lineup with stiff neck

The New York Mets' star third baseman David Wright has been removed from Monday night's lineup with a stiff neck, reports Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News. The Mets hope that Wright will only need one day to recover from the problem. He began to feel his neck tighten up during Sunday night's game, according to manager Terry Collins: "He began...

Should David Wright Participate in the 2013 Home Run Derby?

A lot has been said by New York Mets fans since it was revealed that third baseman David Wright is likely to participate in this year’s Home Run Derby at Citi Field. Wright has been a part of this event before, finishing second in 2006 behind Philadelphia Phillies first baseman, Ryan Howard. Most fans don’t think this would be a good idea, pointing to his lack of home runs in...

Sounding Off: Wright and Recker Both Take The Blame For Last Night’s Loss

After yesterday’s 2-1 ninth inning loss, David Wright didn’t blame the bad call at third base and instead pointed the finger of blame for the loss on himself and the rest of the offense. “Sometimes the calls go your way. Sometimes they don’t. What we need to do a better job of is offensively going out there and scoring more runs. We can’t expect to win games 1-0. Offensively...

Wright Questionable For Tonight, But Not As Questionable As Collins’ Recent Moves

Nice Guys Finish Last: David Wright’s Decision To Stay

The street I live on is a fairly quiet residential one lane road. Three miles to the south it meanders up into the foothills that look down on the valley. It gives way to an expansive residence, the proverbial mansion on the hill. At night, the home is illuminated in a sea of blackness. There’s nothing close by and the property seems big enough to warrant its own zip code. On many...

David Wright Hurts Neck; Larry David Explains How He Hurt It

David Wright will not play tonight against the Miami Marlins for what Mets Manager Terry Collins says is a stiff neck. Now this is not considered to be serious and he should be back in the lineup before the Mets leave Miami. But, of course when it comes to injuries and the Mets, you really never know. Of course, one of the things I was wondering was just how did Wright, who reported...

David Wright Takes Harvey Day Off

Tonight's matchup between the Flushing Nine and the Miami Lorias is being billed as the phenom matchup ... Matt Harvey vs. Jose Fernandez. While this is true, remember that only one of these pitchers has been lit up in his last two starts. And it's not the one that wears blue. (You know, real blue ... not what the Marlins call blue.) The problem is that it only seems to be...
