As sports bloggers, we understand the importance of double-checking our work and making sure there are no costly errors. We make mistakes from time-to-time like anyone else, but I can’t remember any of them being this hilarious.

As you can see from the photo above that Ryan Petzar of Philly.com Sports shared on Twitter, the Red Lion Area School district in Pennsylvania missed a pretty big error in a large banner on display about becoming a partner in public education. Unfortunately for the creators of the sign, “pubic” is an actual word. It means something slightly different.

More funny screw-ups can be found here.

  • Um, there aren't any misspelled words on the sign.
  • Something similar to this happened when I was working in college. We were shipped a traveling exhibit entitled "Women in Public Places" but all the boxes said, "Women in Pubic Places" everyone at work was dying from laughter.
  • Iwould hope that the children would be educated in the Health and Wellness area!
  • Not really that funny....
  • This is just splitting hairs. :p
  • Let's give the school teacher responsible for this one a big pay raise.
  • I'm surprised they still put it up.
  • This is nothing new. Red Lion is in SE Pennsylvania.

I remember about 20 years ago when a friend of mine was working for Cigna in Philadelphia. She caught a typo for an event at the Philadelphia Art Museum, after the flyers had gone out, but she was able to get them returned and fixed. I have a copy of the original paper. The flyer had directions of how to get to the museum, by pubic transportation.
