First, sea otters playing football, now this? Meet Eddie the sea otter. Eddie is turning 16 years old, which apparently is a very advanced age for his species. Eddie also suffers from arthritis in his elbows and zookeepers have been trying to figure out a treatment that helps Eddie exercise his presumably aching joints.
The zookeepers appear to have stumbled upon something that is as therapeutic for Eddie as it is enjoyable to watch: Eddie plays basketball, slam-dunking a miniature ball into a hoop.
Sadly, Eddie only performs his incredibly adorable act behind the scenes, away from the “oohs” and “ahhs” that would most certainly emanate from charmed onlookers if the Oregon Zoo allowed the little guy to demonstrate his dunking prowess.
