The Carolina Mudcats came back from a Tuesday night shutout to beat the Lynchburg Hillcats 15-8, at Calvin Falwell Field. The Mudcats improved to 9-10 this half and 31-58 overall and the Hillcats dropped to 5-12 this half and 41-45 overall. Right-hander Nick Pasquale started for the Mudcats and pitched two innings with two hits and one run. The Hillcats bullpen had a very different showing from their 16-strikeout Tuesday performance.Blaine Sims’ (0-6) first inning included five hits, eight runs and seven walks. Rob Nixon (3-3) took the win with 2.1 innings, one hit, one stolen base and one walk. An uneventful first inning led to an offensive burst from Carolina in the top of the second. Sims walked the first two batters then pitched a double for catcher Alex Lavisky to bring the score to 2-0. Sims followed up with a walk and a wild pitch to center fielder Tyler Naquin.
