PLAYERS: Tyler Murphy
TEAMS: Florida Gators
The Florida offense tried to be balanced against LSU on Saturday calling 35 pass plays to 32 run plays in the entire game against the Tigers. Florida opened up the first series calling seven run plays to six pass. First down is a little bit different story with 17 runs versus 7 pass. The Gators were miserable on first down pass success and quarterback Tyler Murphy knows it has to get better.

A week after changing place-kickers, No. 22 Florida is switching punters. And it means benching a 2012 finalist for the Ray Guy Award. Coach Will Muschamp announced Monday he's replacing punter Kyle Christy, a preseason All-American, with freshman Johnny Townsend. Christy has punted 21 times for a 39.6-yard average, which ranks 13th in the Southeastern Conference. Christy...

(Another) Florida starter done for season

The title said it: Another Florida star is done for the season. Much to Will Muschamp's frustration, No.1 running back Matt Jones is out for the year with a torn meniscus. Gators RB Jones out with knee injury

If there was a repellent to buy for the injury bug, Gators coach Will Muschamp would stock up. Muschamp announced Monday that sophomore running back Matt Jones, who is averaging a team-high 67.8 yards per game, is out for the year with a knee injury.

Muschamp turns to Townsend

The punter job seemed to be locked down for the next two seasons. Kyle Christy returned to Florida as a Ray Guy Award finalist and a preseason All-American by numerous publications. On Monday, he lost his job. The junior punter struggled through the first six games of Florida’s season, and freshman punter Johnny Townsend will take the starting job this Saturday at Missouri.

Banged up Gators still healing

Florida practiced with just seven players on Monday and Tuesday this week. Lots of wing options for Gators

As Florida continues to get a couple of guys healthy and back to a full basketball roster, head coach Billy Donovan knows he has some options on the wing. The Gators return forward Casey Prather from last year’s team and also have transfer Dorian Finney-Smith that can play the small forward spot. Guard Michael Frazier also returns with his long range shot. Then there are more options available.
