On Friday at Talladega Superspeedway, NASCAR confiscated the windshields of the Michael Waltrip Racing-owned Sprint Cup Series cars of David Reutimann (No. 00) and Martin Turex Jr. (No. 56). The No. 47 entry of JTG-Daugherty Racing, driven by Bobby Labonte, also had its windshield confiscated. JTG-Daugherty is affiliated with MWR. MWR is also fielding a third car, a No. 15 to be driven by team owner Michael Waltrip. That car was not affected. Reutimann’s No. 00 was the fastest car in second practice on Friday in preparation for Sunday’s Good Sam Club 500 at Talladega. His windshield had already been replaced by that time. NASCAR said that the confiscation was a result of unapproved modifications. Penalties are expected and will be announced next week.
