Dance Dance Revolution

One of the best things that major sports organizations do these days is promote good will for its cities, and create events that generate money for local charities.

The Mariners have been doing this for as long as I can remember, and they seem to have the most fun while doing it.

This time around, it was the mascot dance off for kids appreciation day at Safeco Field.

Among the participants were, the Mariner Moose (of course), and mascots from the Seattle Storm, Seattle Seahawks, Tacoma Rainiers, Seattle Thunderbirds, and Everett Silvertips.

The video

These guys got moves!

Seriously, I don’t see how they can still get down while wearing all that extra fluffy material on their costumes.

Anyways, the mascots play what looks like follow the leader, each of the other teams mascot’s try to mimic the Mariner Moose in a very sloppy flash mob style dance.

The whole thing is a competition against 27 other mascot teams around the country, and each performance is judged.

Style

I’m not the type of person who sits around and watches MTV anymore, so I’m not to hip on the dance styles of this generation.

I do give points to the Silvertips mascot though, he looked like he was bustin’ a move out there in the second biggest outfit of all the mascots.

In terms of synchronicity, I think the group got lost near the end of their piece, as the Seahawks mascot seems to be confused whether he should fist pump, or shuffle.

All in all, this looked like a fun experience for kids appreciation day, I kind of wish I could have been there for that.

It takes the mind off another losing season, if not just for the thirty seconds of the dance routine.

This is why I love the Mariners. Even in losing, they know how to treat their fans to an awesome day at the ballpark, all the while grooming the future generation of M’s fans too.

Mariners' Hernandez fizzles down stretch

It's been one rotten final month of the season for Seattle Mariners right-hander Felix Hernandez. Well, it's been a rotten final month for all of the Mariners, Seattle being 9-18 since the end of August following Monday's 7-4 loss to the Angels. Hernandez, however, had more to play for in the final five weeks. He was the AL Pitcher of the Month for August (4-0, 1...

For third year in a row, offense doomed M's

Things have improved for the Seattle Mariners offensively in the last 12 months, indeed in the last 24 months, but they haven't improved nearly enough to rid general manager Jack Zduriencik of the notion that he's got to rework the lineup options he gives to manager Eric Wedge going forward. Seattle finished last in the league in batting average, runs, hits and on-base...

Safeco Field fences will be moved in next season

Most of the change will see the fences come in about 4 feet, but in straightaway left field...

Seattle Mariners Stunned By Angels & A’s At End Of Season

The Seattle Mariners had one of their worst weeks in these past two September series against AL West rivals Los Angeles Angels (88-71) and Oakland A’s (91-68). This was when we wanted them to break some hearts—cause some tears—since they aren’t going to be competing in the playoffs. However, even though the Mariners lost 2 of 3 to the Angels, they outscored them in the 3...

Haren, Angels shut down by Mariners
