My Solution to the "Brilliant NFL Overtime Silent Auction System"

First of all, "The Brilliant NFL Overtime Silent Auction System" isn't brilliant at all. In fact it's stupid. What is indeed BRILLIANT and would add more excitement and drama to overtime would be.....KICKERS? Yes I said it, KICKERS.

Keep the coin toss because it's tradition in the NFL but this is how it would work. Kickers would be given the opportunity to win the game by kicking fieldgoals. First one who misses and the next makes wins. It will be the same atmosphere with the crowd and 11 guys trying to block it but they will start from the 25 yard line and increase 10 yards everytime if both kicker make the first. If the first kicker misses and the second kicker makes it, game is over and vice versa. If they both miss, they keep kicking but everytime a kick is made 10 yards is added. Some people would argue that their kicker doesnt have a stronger leg but what are you in the NFL for if you cant kick a 50 yarder. Plus with the pressure and 11 guys looking to kill you, you will see kickers missing at 35.

all in all, this will make kickers ever more popular and increased in demand. You will see kickers with 100 million dollar contracts or you might find them dead in an alley somewhere. Home crowds will be silent for their kicker while raucous for the opposing teams. You will see Kickers turning around with one finger silencing the crowd, simulating death with the slicing of the throat gesture, doing field goal celebrations running to the sidelines, asking a cheerleader for their shoe and then simulating kicking the game winner again. Others may just run to the locker room after the kick not even looking to see if it went in. I think it will shed a whole new light on kickers and $hit talking. Hell Kickers might even go number 1 in the draft now.
