When Atlanta comes up on the schedule Joey Logano has to cringe. The youngster hasn't had much success at the 1.5-mile track as he's made five career starts there and has yet to crack the top 20.

That doesn't bode well for a driver fighting for a ride next season.

Logano has finishes of 30th, 22nd, 35th, 27th, and 24th respectively in Atlanta as I don't expect much out of him this weekend.

That's unfortunate as this race should nearly drop him out of Chase contention. I don't see him running well in Richmond next weekend and Atlanta should drop him far enough out of reach of getting up to the second wildcard spot.

Of course, what it's really about for Team 20 at this point is wins. Realistically, the only way for Logano to make the Chase he'll need to figure out a way to win at either Atlanta or Richmond. He has a better track record at Richmond that he does at Atlanta, but it would be a huge upset if he managed to find his way to victory lane.

With Logano inevitably missing the Chase I expect an announcement soon that he will lose his ride at JGR. It's struggles at tracks like Atlanta that will make it tough for the kid to get a high caliber ride. The overall shortage of quality rides available certainly won't help his case at all either.

Time is quickly running out for "Sliced Bread." He may be able to get a ride based on his acknowledged potential and his stellar performance in the Nationwide Series (six wins in 2012 so far), but what really matter is what going on in Cup competition, and right now the results just aren't there.
