Some sad news from New Jersey Wednesday night, as driver Jason Leffler has passed away following a crash in a sprint car race at a dirt track. Leffler reportedly struck the wall, had to be removed from the car, and was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Per According to Sergeant Adam Grossman the accident occurred “at approximately 8:30 at Bridgeport Speedway in Logan Township in Glouchester the driver of a sprint race car struck a wall and had to be extricated. He was transported to Crozier Hospital where he was pronounced dead at the hospital.” The officer would not release the name of the deceased, until the next of kin was contacted, but acknowledged the deceased was a 37-year-old white male. The accident remains under investigation by the New Jersey State Police. Leffler had been racing in at least one of the three NASCAR national series since 1999, and had won two Nationwide and one Truck Series race over that span.
