Nationals get OF DeJesus in trade with Cubs

The Washington Nationals have acquired outfielder David DeJesus in a trade with the Chicago Cubs. The deal bolsters Washington's bench as it tries to make an improbable late run for a playoff spot. Coming into the day, the Nationals trailed Cincinnati by 9 1/2 games for the NL's second wild-card slot. The Cubs receive a player to be named. They also save about $2.5 million...

DeJesus Traded

The Cubs have traded outfielder David DeJesus to the Washington Nationals for a player to be named later....hopefully one that can do as well as what the Cubs got for Scott Hairston. Since joining the Daytona Cubs, Ivan Pineyro has a 3.18 ERA in 6 starts over 34 IP, giving up just 1 HR, 4 BB's and striking out 27. A bit of a surprise move, moreso that the Nationals are still...

Dale Sveum ejected, Cubs drop series against Cardinals

Sunday afternoon was the last of a three game set against arch rival St. Louis. Though the Cubs silenced the birds in the first game, the last two games weren’t as kind to Chicago. The Cardinals used Saturday’s game to return the favor by shutting out the Cubs, and only allowed one run to score in Sunday’s match up. On Saturday, the Cubs actually played pretty well for the...

One percent owned Chris Rusin among two start pitchers to watch

Chris Rusin – Chicago Cubs (2-2 / 3.06 ERA) vs. WSH (Dan Haren) & @SD (Andrew Cashner)   Chris Rusin picked up his second win of the season two starts ago when he pitched six scoreless innings while striking out five Cardinals. (AP Photo/Keith Srakocic) Rusin has given up only eight runs over his five starts and two or fewer in four of those five starts since being called...

WATCH: Anthony Rizzo makes catch of foul ball over rail and on top of dugout

Chicago Cubs 1B Anthony Rizzo deserves hazard pay in the visitor’s dugout at Wrigley Field.  Not only did he navigate the visitors dugout rail, but also managed to get his glove on TOP of the dugout to make the catch of a foul ball from the bat of Yadier Molina.  Watch (courtesy of MLB.com):   Be sure to like our Facebook Page Or follow us on Twitter - David Whitlock Follow...

Cubs trade DeJesus, break out of offensive funk

The Cubs hope saving about $2.5 million after trading David DeJesus to the Nationals is only part of their latest look toward the future. For starters the dealing of DeJesus for a player to be named will give other players a chance to prove they can help revamp a stagnant offense. "The biggest thing is figuring things out offensively" general manager Jed Hoyer said Monday...

Cubs' Anthony Rizzo misses game with migraine headache

Nothing is worse than a migraine. They always seem to hit at the most inopportune times, serving as some form of kryptonite to our everyday life. Simple tasks and responsibilities fall by the wayside, as we essentially become prisoners in our own heads. Don't believe me? Ask Anthony Rizzo, of the Chicago Cubs. Rizzo, was forced to miss last night's game marking his first...

Nationals trade for and then waive David DeJesus

The month of August is always a strange one with waiver wire moves. Once a player is claimed a team can pull the player back and keep them, trade him to the claiming team or simply dumped on that club. I have a feeling the Chicago Cubs simply dumped David DeJesus on the Washington Nationals this weekend. The reason being the Nationals placed him right back on waivers after the...

Drunk Cardinals Fan Attempts To Kick Cubs Fan, Fails Miserably

The St. Louis Cardinals played a weekend series against the Chicago Cubs — a series that started with a 7-0 win by the Cubs on Friday night. After the one-sided shutout, a drunk Cardinals fan took to the streets to defend his team’s honor, approaching a clearly unfazed Cubs fan. After a brief round of “come at me, bro” posturing, he attempted to kick said Cubs fan. Key word...

Nats Go North To Face NL Central's Last-Place Cubs

After yet another disappointing – though hard-fought – series loss to their division-rival Atlanta Braves, the Washington Nationals (60-63) will head north for a contest against a less formidable foe: the Chicago Cubs (53-70). With the second-worst record in the National League, the Cubs are much farther out of the postseason equation than even the Nationals, who are hanging...

Can I Get You a Cup of Coffee?

This is the time of the year when MLB clubs begin to rearrange the deck-chairs, as contenders look to solidify their post-season rosters with a last minute waiver deal or two prior to the August 31st post-season roster eligibility deadline, and clubs that are out of contention bring up players from the minors to get a look at guys who might (or might not) have a future with the club...

Phillies Reportedly "Considering" Roger Bernadina

Today the Washington Nationals acquired outfielder David De Jesus from the Chicago Cubs, requiring that the team made a roster move. That corresponding move was the release of outfielder Roger Bernadina. According to CSN's Jim Salisbury, the Phillies are showing some interest. Bernadina has struggled greatly this year, hitting just...
