Found August 06, 2013 on Fox Sports:
The Washington Nationals called up right-handed pitcher Tanner Roark from Triple-A Syracuse, optioned left-hander Xavier Cedeno back to the minors and moved lefty starter Ross Detwiler to the 60-day disabled list. The moves came before Washington's game against Atlanta on Tuesday night. Roark is 9-3 with two saves and a 3.15 ERA in 33 games at Syracuse in 2012, 11 as a starter. He could work in relief for the Nationals right now, then start when rookie right-hander Taylor Jordan's innings limit is reached, which is expected to happen after about four more appearances. The Nationals got Roark in the trade that sent shortstop Cristian Guzman to the Texas Rangers in 2010. Detwiler went on the 15-day DL on July 7 with a herniated disc in his back.

Bryce Harper Hot Under Collar After Getting Drilled

Washington Nationals‘ Bryce Harper takes exception to intentionally getting beaned after connecting for a home run in his previous at bat. There is no mistaking what Atlanta Braves hurler Julio Teheran intentions were going right after the Nationals superstar. Order was restored after a few choice words from Harper. I have a feeling Justin Upton may want to watch himself when Jordan...

Johnson: Zimmerman may need switch

Nationals manager Davey Johnson says third baseman Ryan Zimmerman eventually could change positions if his throwing problems don't get sorted out. Johnson adds Tuesday he thinks Zimmerman's issues are ''more mental'' than physical. Zimmerman had offseason surgery on his right shoulder. He has made 17 errors this year; among major league third baseman, only...

Nationals’ Werth named NL Player of the Month

Right fielder for the Washington Nationals, Jayson Werth, was announced as the National League Player of the Month for July. Werth, who is the first Nationals position player to be named as the NL Player of the Month since the Nats arrived in DC in 2005 recorded the stats to back this award. Announced by MLB on Twitter, Werth hit 33-for-90 in July along with 7 homeruns and a NL-league...

Davey: "Boy, we needed that one."

"I mean, that’s baseball. But boy, we needed that one." (Davey Johnson, via Washington Times, 8/6/2013) Braves 3, Nationals 2: Goodbye, NL East Crown! Rinse, wash, repeat. Death, taxes, blown chances, and no run support for Stephen Strasburg. At this hour, Justiin Upton is still standing near home plate admiring his 8th inning bomb off Tyler Clippard. ...

Nat’s Harper still ticked after being hit by pitch

Bryce Harper, seen here fuming after being hit by a pitch, is still upset (courtesy of Washington Post) In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past 48 hours, here’s what you’ve missed in the now ongoing saga that is the Braves/Nationals rivalry: Atlanta Braves left fielder Justin Upton hit a go-ahead home run in the bottom of the 8th in Game 1 of the three-game set...

Nationals’ Ryan Zimmerman may see a position change

Washington Nationals manager Davey Johnson had recently come out and said that third baseman Ryan Zimmerman may potentially see a position change if his errors were to not be cut down. Zimmerman currently has 17 errors on the season thus far, however it is worthy to note that he had offseason surgery on his right shoulder during the winter. Johnson believes his third baseman’s...

Division on the Line for Nationals in Series Against Braves

The Washington Nationals currently sit 12.5 games behind the Atlanta Braves (as of  8/5 at 8 PM.) with 51 games remaining. The Nationals began a three game set at home tonight against the Braves. If the Nationals want to have any shot at the post season they will almost certainly need to sweep the Braves or at least win two out of three.  Losing two out of three will mean the Nationals...

Anything at all

I swear, as I sit here in the dead of night next to the Pacific Ocean that I have been racking my brain for hours trying to find a story that doesn’t involve A-Rod or Johnny Manziel. I don’t want to read anything that doesn’t involve them both being completely and irrevocably exonerated because everything else there is to say about them is too boring. I thought about penning...

Chipper Jones chimes in on Twitter after Braves pitcher hits Bryce Harper

The Washington Nationals’ Bryce Harper took exception to a 94mph fastball from Julio Teheran. Both benches cleared, words and gestures were exchanged, but nothing series transpired. Chipper Jones took to Twitter to chime in on Harper getting drilled. Don't walk off homers and u won't get hit! — Chipper Jones (@RealCJ10) August 7, 2013 The official Atlanta Braves account...

Bryce Harper hit by pitch after home run; Braves & Nationals Twitter accounts exchange jabs

Tweet   Currently in the seventh inning, the Atlanta Braves are leading the Washington Nationals 2-1, which in itself doesn’t sound too exciting. But that hasn’t been the case. Washington’s lone run came via a Bryce Harper home run in the third inning, which was followed by this. In the fifth inning, this happened. This […]

The Brief Twitter Feud Between The Braves And Nationals Tonight Was Oodles Of Fun

Things got ugly during tonight’s Nationals-Braves game after Bryce Harper admired his 437-foot home run just a little too long. Your browser does not support iframes. Braves’ pitcher Julio Teheran decided Harper was guilty of showing him up and decided Harper must pay the iron price. This made Harper upset and he began barking at Teheran as he moseyed on down to first base....

Official Video: Harper gets drilled, Twitter brawl erupts

Bryce Harper gets nailed in the thigh with a pitch by Julio Teheran causing benches to clear. BH had homered in his previous at-bat. Your browser does not support iframes. That caused the team's respective Twitter accounts to clear. Clown move bro— Atlanta Braves (@Braves) August 7, 2013 @Braves Which part, giving up the home run, or drilling the 20-year-old on the first...

Braves win 12th in a row by defeating Nationals 2-1

Say this for the Braves and Nationals they added a little intrigue Tuesday night to a division race that’s all but over. The NL East rivals got testy after a benches-clearing shouting match broke out between Bryce Harper and Julio Teheran in the fifth inning but it proved just a sideshow in another Braves victory. The Braves hung onto their 2-1 lead for four more innings to win...

Nats Offense Again Fails To Capitalize In Frustrating Loss To Braves

They were 90 feet away. But “almost” doesn’t win baseball games, and “almost” is why the Washington Nationals (54-58) find themselves looking up at the Atlanta Braves (68-45) from the bottom of a 13.5-game deep pit after their 3-2 loss on Monday night. In many ways, the loss was a microcosm of the Nationals’ disappointing season: a strong performance from...
