Arguably one of the oddest nights in UFC history, UFC 159 featured a record number of technical decisions, several bad stoppages, copious amounts of eye pokes as well as a shortage of highlight reel finishes. One of those eye pokes came at the end of the evening’s co-main event as Michael Bisping managed to cut Alan Belcher near his right eye, leading the referee to stop the action in the third round and bring the fight to a technical decision.
The poke was particularly dangerous as Belcher has previously had two detached retina surgeries on the same eye and many worried that he would require yet another surgery.
Now it appears that Belcher will not need surgery as he took to twitter to explain that he would only require stitches for the cut on his eyelid.
