Various media outlets, including ESPN, are reporting that the Boston Red Sox have made a second trade on Wednesday. Reports are that the Sox have traded infielder Julio Lugo to the St. Louis Cardinals for outfielder Chris Duncan. This move was undoubtedly emotional for the Cardinals, as Duncan's father, Dave, is the team's pitching coach. In Lugo, the Cardinals are getting a defensive player that can spell Brendan Ryan during the stretch run. The Cardinals currently lead the National League Central division. St. Louis recently activated acquired infielder Mark DeRosa off the disabled list earlier this week, and hope to get third baseman Troy Glaus back from injury later this year. For the Red Sox, this deal brings a second left handed bat to the team in just a matter of hours. Wednesday morning they traded a pair of minor leaguers to the Pittsburgh Pirates for first baseman Adam LaRoche.
