The National Football League’s players might be on strike in 2011 (it pains me to type those words), but its Commissioner—Roger Goodell—will still be working. NFL owners voted that Commissioner Goodell receive a new, five-year contract today. And with a potential work stoppage by the players looming in the not-too-distant future, the Commissioner will need to have as much influence as possible to curtail what sadly—at least at this time—looks like the inevitable.
