NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has made no bones about the fact that he wants to push for an 18-game regular season schedule. While on one hand, the league is moving towards trying to make the game safer while the league is also wanting to add more games to the regular season schedule. It all comes down to the money the added games will produce. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the league might be taking the first steps to put that 18-game slate of games in place.
Schefter states that the NFL is going to propose a change to the offseason schedule which will push the offseason events back. The league wants to push the Combine, the start of free agency and the Draft back on the calendar. The Combine would start in March, the start of free agency in April and the NFL Draft would be held in May.
