It didn’t take Jordan Norwood long to find a home when he was cut by Cleveland recently. Thanks to the NFL’s pre-season structure and teams’ propensity to sit starters in the fourth game, Norwood not only got signed by Tampa Bay, but was featured prominently in their game last night. Norwood had one reception for 25 yards, one kickoff return for 28 yards, two smaller punt returns and seven carries for 26 yards. Additionally, Norwood was the target as a receiver when the Buccaneers drew a 29-yard pass interference penalty. It’s really surprising to find out that Norwood was rushing the ball for the Bucs in the fourth quarter. Norwood was a guy who frequently showed signs of being a competent third receiver, but oftentimes his durability came into question. But there he was last night carrying the ball for 7, 2, -2, 1, 7, 11, and 0 yards in each of his carries. It doesn’t mean much because it was the fourth pre-season game. Also, thanks to Twitter, we also know that Norwood was playing due to what he called an “emergency situation.” Woke up feeling like I played running back last night… wait — Jordan Norwood (@jordaNorwood) August 30, 2013 @CoachPehrson emergency situation last night haha. — Jordan Norwood (@jordaNorwood) August 30, 2013 We’ll see if Norwood showed enough to find a way into the final cut of players for the Buccaneers’ roster.
