Nick Foles Shines For His Haters

Posted December 09, 2012

Yes I know Tampa Bay has the worst passing defense in the NFL. They are ranked 32 in the league to be exact. But this is professional football. Foles showed some nice things today, he stepped up in the pocket throwing the ball like a true vet. The Bucs lead for mostly off the game.  Doug Martin rushed for 128 yards on twenty eight carries scroing a touchdown in the process. Free agent pick up Vinecnt Jackson also dazzled cathing a touchdown pass and amassing one hundred and thirty one yards receiving.

Foles threw for three hundred and eighty one yards, completing thirty two out of fifty one passes, two touchdowns, and ran for one rushing touchdown. Foles came through in the clutch throwing two touchdown passes to Clay Harbor, and Jeremy Maclin in the final four minutes of play to give the Eagles their first win in 70 days. No Lesean Mccoy to carry the rock, Bryce Brown had a less then stellar day, and no Desean Jackson. Foles made due with what receivers he had, both Jason Avant and Jeremy Maclin went off today. Avant had one hundred and thirty three yards receiving, while Maclin had one hundred and eight yards receiving catching the game winning touchdown pass.

Lets not forget that the Eagles offensive line did not have a good day, allowing six sacks to the Tampa Bay front four. Foles also impressed on third down, converting eight third downs out out of seventeen attempts. He also went three for five from the red zone but most importantly Foles threw zero interceptions. Foles has shown improvement over the last five starts. Maybe there is a ray of hope for the hapless Eagles going forward in the future. Just Maybe.
