Nieves agrees to $775,000 contract with Brewers

Tribune News Services MILWAUKEE -- Catcher Wil Nieves has agreed to a $775,000, one-year contract with the Milwaukee Brewers. The 33-year-old hit .203 with three homers and 16 RBIs last season for the Washington National, starting 43 games at catcher. He has a .227 average with five homers and 73 RBIs in seven big league seasons that included time with San Diego (2002), the New York Yankees (2005-07) and Nationals (2008-10). He can earn additional performances based on plate appearances under Friday's deal.
