There's an interesting app that's been out for roughly a week called Nike Boom that I took a closer look at this afternoon. If you lug around an iPod/iPhone during your workouts and you're looking for some sort of free guidance for your workouts, it isn't a bad place to start. The greatest strength of the app is taking music from player's library and bringing it into the app, using it to guide your workouts. If you're doing interval training, you'll get audio cues about when to rest/resume activity that play over the music. The cues are tough to miss, unless of course you're listening to a hip-hop mixtape with a D.J. shouting over the whole thing. Then it might just blend. But anyway, you're offered three modes: Workout, Interval and Gameday. Each mode features motivation tidbits being said by Nike-related coaches and athletes from Coach K to LeBron James and more.
