Marquis Teague says he's excited that Kentucky is ranked at the top of the poll.
The freshman point guard concedes he's not sure what that means.
The Wildcats (6-0) returned to No. 1 for the first time since a one-week stint in the 2009-10 season, but coach John Calipari has been starting three freshmen and two sophomores who weren't around the last time the program was at the top.
Calipari says his three starting freshmen are ''oblivious'' to the rankings and emphasized it's a badge of honor to be ranked first, not a burden.
The Wildcats are hosting two big games this week. St. John's (4-3) comes in Thursday as part of the SEC-Big East challenge before a Saturday showdown against No. 5 North Carolina, last week's No. 1 team.

UK #1 In The AP Poll: A Complete History
>On Monday the newest Associated Press Poll was released for NCAA Division I men’s college basketball and the University of Kentucky received 46 of the 65 first-place votes to become the #1 team in the country, a feat that hadn’t been accomplished by the Wildcats since the 2009-2010 season, John Calipari’s first season at Kentucky. As a result of Kentucky climbing...
Anthony Davis could be a “winner” in the new NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement
And apparently John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats could be the “losers”. I know there was much excitement when the new NBA CBA was announced and there was a lot of speculation that there would be a 20 year age limit and that the current roster of UK freshmen would have to stay two years before entering the NBA Draft.

Non-Conference Rivalries Getting Squeezed Out By Expansion?
By Robbi Pickeral/ESPNOn his website, CoachCal.com, Kentucky’s John Calipari lastweekend posed an eye-opening question to the Big Blue Nation: If the Wildcatshad no other choice and had to eliminate or postpone one series, which shouldit be: North Carolina, Indiana or Louisville? Officials at both UK and UNC this week said they’re hopingto extend the annual series between two...
Wildcats kick off defending #1 as Heavy Favorites
1. Wildcats Favored by 23 over St. John’s
You read that right. The Cats are 23 point faves over the visiting Johnnies per Oscar Combs’ twitter. Much of this has to do with some of the losses they have taken and the absence of Steve Lavin on the sidelines. But the truth of the matter is that UK is damn good. Last time the Cats were #1, they lost it the very next game...
WBN Nightcap: What UT Win does for UK’s Future
Its hard to measure just how important Saturday’s win against Tennessee was for the future of the UK program. The Cats have to be more of a factor in the SEC to stay relevant. When you have a 26-game losing streak to a program that has essentially been on the same level as you have, that makes that very difficult. And with the SEC expanding and UK probably having...
Steve Lavin will not be on the sidelines for Kentucky vs St. Johns Thursday
I admit, we give opposing teams and coaches a lot of grief at times here at the WBN, but even snarky bloggers like myself are rooting for St. John’s coach Steve Lavin. Lavin has been declared ”cancer free” after a seven hour prostate cancer surgery on October 6. Unfortunately, he tried to return to coaching too long and found himself zapped of strength...
One of Kentucky’s storied rivalries could soon be eliminated
If the SEC opts to adopt an 18-game league schedule once Missouri and Texas A&M join the league, it will leave Kentucky with an unenviable scheduling dilemma.
Do the Wildcats absorb the revenue hit of playing one less home game per year? Or do they eliminate one of their annual non-conference rivalry games against Louisville, North Carolina or Indiana in favor of a cash-strapped...
