Adidas, not content to light a torch to college football uniforms, has taken a new direction. This time, Adidas is doing anything and everything they can to completely trash one of college football’s most iconic fight songs, the Notre Dame Victory March. It is no secret that one of my favorite aspects of college football, one that separates it from the rock-anthem induced soundtracks filling NFL stadiums from coast to coast is the sound of a marching band, 200 or 300 strong in some cases, blasting the local fight song with trumpets and trombones blasting from the stands or from the field. As we have seen time and time again, Adidas has no problem taking one of the classics in the game and providing a completely unnecessary twist on the staples of the game. Michigan’s uniforms. Notre Dame’s helmet. The list goes on and one. In some cases Adidas handles the fresh take well, but their shortcomings overshadow any potential successes. So imagine my hesitation when I was sent an email form Adidas asking me to check out this remix of the Notre Dame Victory March, a collaboration between the apparel company and DJ Mick Boogie. Well, it’s certainly not to my fancy, but I will allow you to be the final judge on this remix, titled We Are Notre Dame. Leave your comments on the song below, as I am confident someone from Adidas will be checking up on it at some point. As for me, I hope that 2013 is the year Adidas stops trying to hard. Stick to the basics and do not try to re-brand institutions that do not need to be re-branded. Hype this up on BallHyped! Subscribe to the No 2-Minute Warning YouTube Channel.
