PITTSBURGH - 2009: Steve McLendon of the Pittsburgh Steelers poses for his 2009 NFL headshot at photo day in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. (Photo by NFL Photos)
As the restricted free agent market winds down, the Green Bay Packers took a look at Steelers nose tackle Steve McLendon, according to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun. McLendon visited on Wednesday, and could be a good fit in Green Bay, who employs a 3-4 defense as in Pittsburgh. No word yet if the Packers will make an offer. Mike Wilkening of PFT writes: The Steelers tendered the 27-year-old McLendon a contract before the start of the 2013 league year and can match any offer sheet. However, if they declined to match a deal, the signing team would not have to surrender any draft-pick compensation. The Packers’ interest level in McLendon is unclear, but he is a scheme fit for Green Bay, and he has the bulk to contribute as a reserve throughout a three-player defensive line.
