PLAYERS: Greg McElroy
TEAMS: New York Jets
If there’s one thing I love about this job, it has to be when we receive a dispatch from the offices of the staff at Rick’s Cabaret in New York. The staff, led by Lonnie Hanover, are the definition of professional. They sense a huge groundswell of attention on Greg McElroy as the new Jets quarterback and suddenly the dancers sound like they work for ESPN. McElroy goes from being some dweeb who looks like he works on Wall Street to the Jets quarterback. Don’t think for a second the girls don’t recognize the implications. They instantly offered the second-year QB out of Alabama a New York style lap dance. As if this guy’s luck can get any better. RICK’S CABARET NEW YORK GIRLS WANT TO THANK GREG McELROY ON LEADING THE JETS TO VICTORY AGAINST THE CARDINALS …AND OFFICIALLY WELCOME HIM TO THE NY JETS QUARTERBACK CONTROVERSY The exotic dancers at the famous upscale gentlemen’s club Rick’s Cabaret in New York City always support their home town teams and congratulate Greg McElroy on his impressive debut with the Jets. “Congratulations on winning,” proclaimed Rick’s Cabaret Girl Beverly. “It was awesome how you came off the bench and got things turned around.” Rick’s Cabaret Girl Courtney agreed, “The Jets were in trouble and you saved the game. Thanks, dude!” “You did great, and now you are officially a member of the NY Jets Quarterback controversy,” said Rick’s Cabaret Girl Mackenzie. “Sanchez, Tebow and now McElroy. Who should start? Who should play?” she wondered. “It’s a fiasco,” said Rick’s Cabaret Girl Amber. “But Greg McElroy is the man of the moment. I went out to try and buy his #14 jersey but they are sold out everywhere!” Rick’s Cabaret Girl Trina had an interesting suggestion for the new QB. “I know you must be under a lot of pressure right now. If you come to Rick’s Cabaret and ask for me I will give you a lap dance that can take your mind off of everything. I promise.” Rick’s Cabaret New York is the favorite club of numerous celebrities and pro athletes from all the major sports. It is the home of the decidedly “UNOFFICIAL” NY Jets Post Game parties, featuring over 100 beautiful topless dancers, a gourmet steakhouse, VIP luxury suites, and a heated rood deck cigar lounge and garden. Listen, even if you don’t like strip clubs and don’t like beautiful women, at least stop into Rick’s to catch a game. Ignore the hot chicks dancing around and watch some meaningless NBA game on one of the LCDs. The Rick’s crew will treat you right and you might even run into McElroy getting a dance from Trina. New York Jets – McElroy Brings Calm To Offense

Surprise hero Greg McElroy described himself as an even keeled player to reporters after the Jets 7-6 comeback win over Arizona. During a post game press room scene that rarely calls for the thoughts of any third string quarterback. With second stringer Tim Tebow out nursing broken ribs, and embattled starter Mark Sanchez floundering late in the third quarter, head coach Rex Ryan...

Greg McElroy probably won Jets starting QB job with one offensive drive

After throwing three interceptions on 21 attempts with zero touchdowns and a fan base that has totally come down on him, the Jets finally pulled Mark Sanchez in favor of second year QB Greg McElroy. And in the very short time McElroy was given to prove himself running the Jets offense, the young QB out [...]

Report: Jets owner prefers Greg McElroy over Mark Sanchez

According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, Jets owner Woody Johnson prefers to have Greg McElroy start over Mark Sanchez..  Head coach Rex Ryan and general manager Mike Tannebaum however want Sanchez back under center this week. I’m told owner Woody Johnson prefers Greg McElroy to be starting QB. GM Mike Tannenbaum & OC Tony Sparano prefer Mark Sanchez this week...

NFL Rumors: Should New York Jets Fans Get Excited About Greg McElroy?

Rex Ryan finally did what fans of the New York Jets had been asking for for weeks now, benching the struggling starting quarterback in favor of the back up in New York. But while Mark Sanchez was finally given the clipboard, it was not Tim Tebow who came in and led the Jets to victory. It was Greg McElroy. Now, if you do not follow college football, then you probably never heard...

McElroy ends suffering under Sanchez

All season long, Jets fans have clamored for head coach Rex Ryan to demote quarterback Mark Sanchez, and on Sunday, they finally got their wish -- even if the guy who finally supplanted the struggling fourth-year starter wasn't the replacement they were hoping for. After nearly three quarters of yet another unfortunate showing by Sanchez, Ryan decided that Sanchez's downward...

Jets Fan Made Customized “Buttfumble” Jersey

I’m loving New York Jets fans this season. They haven’t given up on this team, they just continue to get more passionate. This “Buttfumble” jersey was spotted in the crowd during yesterday’s victory over the Cardinals in which Mark “Buttfumble” Sanchez was benched in favor of Greg McElroy.  McElroy threw the winning touchdown pass in the 4th quarter giving his Jets...

Rex Ryan does not feel that loyalty to Mark Sanchez will cost him his job

When New York Jets coach Rex Ryan benched his quarterback Mark Sanchez on Sunday he made a statement. Initially the statement seemed to be ‘forget Sanchez and Tim Tebow, I am going with the kid that went to Alabama: Greg McElroy.’ That thought was confirmed as a misfire on Wednesday when Ryan declared that he would return to Sanchez to start this Sunday’s game against the...

Jets owner Woody Johnson would like McElroy to start

All year long we’ve heard about the QB situation in New York. It’s either been Mark Sanchez or Tim Tebow. But now, following Sanchez’ benching vs. Arizona, a new name has risen, and that’s Greg McElroy. The Jets’ seventh round pick from the University of Alabama was thrown into the spotlight Sunday after Rex Ryan benched Mark Sanchez (The one and only time Tim Tebow was...

Jets find hero in unlikely third choicer

If one incident proved this week that, while class may be permanent form is certainly a favourable attribute to have, it was in New York as the Jets beat Arizona thanks to the unlikeliest of players. The Jets, on a 4-7 record heading into the game and outsiders in the NFL betting odds thanks to having one of the worst offences in the NFL, overcame fellow strugglers Arizona 7-6 in...

Without using a ‘little more time,’ Rex Ryan needs to forever shelve Mark Sanchez in favor of Greg McElroy

After mercifully benching the inept Mark Sanchez with 4:48 remaining in the third quarter, third-string quarterback Greg McElroy led the New York Jets to an unsightly 7-6 victory over the floundering Arizona Cardinals yesterday in front of a sparse crowd … Continue reading →

No Huddle – New York Jets Quarterback Switch Edition

No game this entire season was as exciting as the 7-6 “thriller” was for us yesterday. The exit of a struggling QB and the entrance of an unblemished one, got us up off of our seat and screaming as if it were the 2009 or 2010 playoff runs all over again. Never mind that we were going hoarse over a few meager third and manageable completions. That came courtesy of a guy who had...

Making Sense Of The New York Jets Quarterback Mess

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan will likely announce a decision on his starting quarterback within the next 24 hours. There have been various reports on who prefers who in the Jets hierarchy, but at this point who can really trust any sources from this organization? We know this much, it isn’t going to be Tim Tebow. Rex Ryan, Mike Tannenbaum and the entire coaching staff have...

Ryan doesn't name starter yet

To the surprise of no one, Rex Ryan didn't name his starting quarterback Monday afternoon, less than 24 hours after he benched Mark Sanchez for Greg McElroy and watched McElroy make his NFL debut by directing the Jets to the only touchdown of their 7-6 win over the Cardinals. Ryan said he hopes to announce the starter against Jacksonville by the time the Jets practice on Wednesday...
