Los Angeles Angels
The Oakland A’s downed the Los Angeles Angels 6-4 thanks to a typically impressive outing from Bartolo Colon and a strong showing from the offense, including home runs from Jed Lowrie and Stephen Vogt.
The A’s fell behind early after Colon served up a two-run home run to Mike Trout in the first inning. Of the uncharacteristically rough start for Colon, who ending up picking up his 14th win, manager Bob Melvin said:
“Trout’s a pretty good hitter. I don’t think stuff like that really bothers him,” Melvin added. “And he did bounce back nicely.”
It was the second frame that would prove decisive for the A’s. Josh Reddick ripped a double down the right field line to leadoff the inning. Eric Sogard, who had an impressive night with his glove, then lined a single over the glove of shortstop Erick Aybar to tie the game at 2-2. Later in the inning Lowrie drove a hard ground ball down the first base line that plated two more runs, and gave the A’s a 4-2 advantage .

Now, I’m not sure if Los Angeles Angles pitcher CJ Wilson was the biggest tool in high school, or if he has an incredible sense of humor, or if he went through a phase like many other suburban white kids that I attended school with that talked like they were working for Suge Knight at Death Row Record, but this high school picture of him that surfaced recently is absolutely hysterical...
FROM BAD TO WORSE
Albert Pujols has been placed on the DL with a partial tear of the left plantar fascia, and he reportedly could miss the rest of the season.
It’s hard not to have a soft spot for some things from the past. Then again, there are things that are better off behind us — like the A’s throwback jerseys.
The Athletics sported uniforms from days long ago when they hosted the Angels Saturday afternoon. Oakland defeated Los Angeles, 3-1, so either the change of garb brought good luck upon the A’s or the bright yellow pants...

Those following the Angels organization know that the Angels have been woefully short on pitching. So, with the June, 2013 draft, the Angels went heavily after pitchers, especially in the early rounds. In particular, they went after hard throwing guys with upside.
One of those players who fit that mold was Harrison...
The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have always been an animal-friendly team. 2013 marks the third year of the Rally Monkey. Thursday night during the A’s-Angels game, relief pitcher Dane De La Rosa went PETA on everyone and helped what looked like an injured bird off the field.
And just like that, the Angels may have their 2013 version of the Rally Monkey. Sitting...
Angels' DH/first baseman Albert Pujols is back in Southern California from Oakland to have an MRI on his left foot. The slugger re-injured it running to first base last night after he singled in the ninth inning against A's closer Grant Balfour.
In his absence, Mike Trout will bat third for the first time in his Major League career, according to Alden Gonzalez. The...
Entering the season, Los Angeles Angels first baseman and
designated hitter Albert Pujols was hoping he would be able to produce closer
to his career norms devoid of significant injury and ailment. He was specifically
hoping for comfort rather than lingering discomfort in his foot. While Pujols
says his case of plantar fasciitis is no worse at this point of the season, it
Albert Pujols, Mike Trout and Mark Trumbo each drove in two runs to power the Los Angeles Angels past the Oakland Athletics 8-3 on Thursday night.
C.J. Wilson (11-6) allowed three runs and five hits in seven innings for his third straight victory - the past two against Dan Straily (6-4) and the A's. He struck out six and walked three.

Going into the season everyone had the same questions about the Angels. Could they muster enough starting pitching to survive when their offense didn't score a ton of runs? What could they expect out of the rotation that was built on a bunch of random B- to C+ major league arms? Well, 101 games into the season we have our answer.
The Angel rotation will be the reason this...

GAME 98 - A’S AT ANGELS
ANAHEIM -- Fresh off their three-game sweep of the Seattle Mariners, the Angels had little time to breath to get ready for the Oakland A's who reminded the Angels there is more than one team to beat in the American League West.
In one of the best-played games by both teams all season...
Angels slugger Albert Pujols returned to Los Angeles on Saturday
morning for further testing on his sore left foot.
THURSDAY, 7/25: C.J. Wilson vs. Dan Straily: MOAR PLEAZE!
But seriously... C.J. was ridiculous good against the A's last week and I am starting to get used to this whole Wilson being awesome thing. It sure would be nice if he kept it up and got our expectations unreasonably high for him in 2014.
FRIDAY, 7/26: Jerome Williams vs. Bartolo...
Derek Norris had a pinch-hit two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning in the Oakland Athletics' 3-1 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday.
