Oakland A’s NOT Bay Area’s Highest Paid Athletes

I was looking through the San Jose/Silicon Valley Business Journal yesterday and saw their list of the top 25 highest paid Bay Area athletes. Not too much to my surprise there is not one Oakland A’s player on the current roster that made the list. In fact, Eric Chavez was # 4 on the list making $12.5 million and “Big Bust” Ben Sheets was #9 making $10 million but thankfully for the Oakland A’s, neither is still with the team. Here’s the breakdown of the other Bay Area teams with players on the top 25 list any my take on whether or not any of them are worth the money: San Francisco Giants: 9 players (including Edgar Renteria but I don’t think he counts anymore…) Most ridiculous salary: Barry Zito (big shocker). Zito actually ranks #1 on the list with an $18.5 million salary in 2010. Aarond Rowand is actually second on the list with a $13.5 million salary. OUCH!
