On this day in 1985 College Football Hall of Fame coach Fisher DeBerry led No. 15 Air Force past Notre Dame for the second consecutive season, topping the Fighting Irish 21-15 in Colorado Springs, Colo. The win marked Air Force’s fourth-straight triumph over Notre Dame. The Falcons climbed as high as No. 4 in the Associated Press poll and their eventual 12-1 season remains the only top 10 finish in school history. Air Force heads to South Bend this weekend for another round with Notre Dame. Notre Dame leads the all-time series, 22-6, including a 10-4 record in Notre Dame Stadium. Air Force’s last win in South Bend came in 1996, with an overtime victory. Source: National Football Foundation
