While you and everyone else who has paid attention to college football this season sees Alabama as the far and away #1 team in America, two important pieces of the BCS equation does not. And though it’s early and things will change, at this particular junction of the season, Oregon State is currently the #1 in America according to two computers used in the BCS formula. The Beavers are in the top spot in both the ColleyMatrix and Ken Massey’s BCS rankings. In each ranking, the Beavers are followed by Notre Dame at #2, but that’s where the similarities end. The schools that make up the rest of ColleyMatrix’s top 10 are: #3 Florida, #4 Alabama, #5 Florida State, #6 South Carolina, #7 Kansas State, #8 Georgia, #9 Ohio State, and #10 Texas Tech. The rest of Ken Massey’s BCS rankings shakes out this way: #3 Texas Tech!, #4 Florida, #5 Ohio State, #6 South Carolina, #7 Texas, #8 Alabama, #9 Kansas State, and #10 West Virginia.
