The Orioles legend is offering a large reward for the capture of the man who abducted his mother last year.
Cal Ripken was known as the Iron Man during his playing days and now the former Baltimore Oriole star is out to solve crime. Ripken, 52, is out to find the man who kidnapped his mother a year ago. The former MVP and All-Star is offering $100,000 to help find the man who kidnapped Vi Ripken. The announcement of the reward came Thursday at the Sports Legends Museum located next to...
We’ve seen cakes shaped like Louboutins, Louis Vuitton bags, laptops and Hennessy bottles. But, I’ve never seen a cake to resemble a Popeye’s chicken box, delectable side dishes included. Apparently Baltimore Orioles center fielder, Adam Jones has a love for the fast food establishment so a friend thought it would be a great idea to get him a birthday cake in the image of a...
The expected suspension of Alex Rodriguez has Baltimore Orioles manager Buck Showalter upset.
Showalter managed Rodriguez in Texas but is not coming to the third baseman’s aid. Instead Showalter sees the financial advantages for the Yankees if Rodriguez is suspended.
According to the Collective Bargaining Agreement, the portion of a player’s salary that he does not collect while...
Former Baltimore Orioles great Cal Ripken Jr. announced a $100,000 reward Thursday for information that helps lead to the capture and conviction of the person who abducted his mother a year ago.
Vi Ripken was taken against her will from her Aberdeen home at gunpoint on July 24, 2012, and returned unharmed 24 hours later.
The former Orioles shortstop said he hoped the reward would...
Orioles third baseman Manny Machado was hit by a ground ball yesterday -- or a "top spin line drive" -- that took a bad hop during batting practice. He walked off the field and was being checked by the club's training staff.

Manny Machado seems to have escaped major injury.
Will remain in the line up tonight, despite precautionary...
There were lots of firsts for Bud Norris on Thursday night. First time pitching against his old team first start in Baltimore and most important his first win.
After it was over he had to fend off his first shaving cream pie.
Not even after he got his first major league win was he so honored but then he’s never played with Adam Jones. Jones and Alexi Casilla ran over to him while...
The way Baltimore Orioles manager Buck Showalter sees it, the New York Yankees should be doing back flips if the result of the Biogenesis PED scandal results in an Alex Rodriguez suspension, and the longer, the better. Based upon the cleared payroll, Showalter went as far to predict that his own two-time All-Star catcher, Matt Wieters, would probably defect and be wearing Pinstripes...
Orioles manager Buck Showalter is unusual in many ways. He’s a manager who actually enjoys the media relishes exchanging ideas and opinions with them.
This week he got burned.
Showalter was quoted in USA Today in talking about the possibility that if Alex Rodriguez is suspended for next year the New York Yankees would be able to wipe his salary off the books.
“If Bud lets...
The Baltimore Orioles pulled the trigger on a deal as the deadline drew to a close acquiring pitcher Bud Norris from the cellar dweller Houston Astros. The 28-year old Norris has 5 years of major league experience under his belt all on the bump with the Astros. The former 6th round pick boasts a respectable 6-9 record with a 3.93 earned run average pitching for the worst team in...
Bud Norris made his first start for the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday night and defeated his former team the Houston Astros. Norris, 28, limited the Astros to two runs over six innings of work to pick up his seventh win of the season.
Chris Davis belted his 39th home run of the season in the game, coming against left hander Travis Blackley.
The win keeps the Orioles 5.5 games behind...
The Baltimore Orioles have acquired right-hander Bud Norris from the Houston Astros to help bolster a rotation that will be without injured Jason Hammel for what could be an extended period.
The Orioles are sending outfielder L.J. Hoes and left-handed prospect Josh Hader to the Astros in a deal agreed to moments before Wednesday's non-waiver trade deadline.
Hammel is being...
The longer Alex Rodriguez could be suspended the more it could help the New York Yankees. And that infuriates Baltimore Orioles manager Buck Showalter.
Forget the money and drugs — it's competitive imbalance that has Showalter steamed.
Showalter who managed Rodriguez on the Texas Rangers says he has no interest in discussing the suspension possibilities surrounding the Yankees...
After their newest acquisition helped them get back on track, the Baltimore Orioles appear to have a good chance to keep it going behind one of baseball's winningest pitchers.
Chris Tillman tries for his 14th victory Friday night in the opener of a three-game home series against a Seattle Mariners team he's dominated.
