Former New York Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora has waited a long time to be a free agent.   He waited so long and is so excited, that he’s just saying anything out his mouth. Umenyiora was on NFL Network a few hours ago, and was asked about his future and what his plans were.  Umenyiora made it clear his next team would be playoff caliber, maybe a player or two away from winning a championship. Then Osi made the proclamation of the off-season, when he stated that he would win the NFL Defensive Player Of The Year award in 2013. “It wouldn’t have to be a playoff team,” Umenyiora said. “It could be anybody pretty much anybody who would need me to help them win, and anybody who I think is going to put me in a situation to win Defensive Player of the Year, which is what I’m going to do this year.” Umenyiora was asked to repeat himself, and he calmly declined, probably understanding what he said.  Umenyiora also let it be known that dollars would factor in to where he signed next season. “My phone is on. I’m not turning my phone off. I’m open to pretty much every situation right now,” Umenyiora said. “Wherever puts me in the best situation to really go out there and showcase my skills and help them win, I think that’s where I want to go.”

New York Giants 2013 NFL Mock Draft

The New York Giants not only have to recover from missing the playoffs after winning the Super Bowl in 2012, but the Super Bowl host curse will rear its head again in 2013. However, I don’t believe in curses, and the 2013 draft offers sky-high potential to reform this back into a contender this season. The passing game will improve with Hakeem Nicks healthy again, and the defense...

Report: NFL teams have “a ton of interest” in Victor Cruz

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, there’s already a ton of interest in New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz as a restricted free agent and the new league year hasn’t even started yet. The Giants will likely give Cruz a first round tender, but that may not keep a team from signing him.  The New York Giants slot receiver almost certainly will receive a first...

According to Mike Garafolo of USA Today Sports, the New York Giants and kicker Lawrence Tynes aren’t close to hammering out a contract extension. It sounds like Tynes will have a chance to test out the free agent market. Tynes had a very good season in 2012.  He converted 84 percent of his field goals.   Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document...

Cornerback Cory Webster takes a big pay cut to stay in New York

According to Kimberly Jones of NFL Network, cornerback Cory Webster restructured his contract taking a pay cut to stay with the New York Giants. Webster's sub-par play in 2012 and his $7 million salary for 2013 was too rich for the Giants taste, and the fact the Giants are tight on salary-cap space.  Webster had his salary reduced to $4 million in the final year of his contract...

How far the Giants can go to re-sign them (or replace them) depends...
