Alabama has at least one high-profile supporter in its bid for a national championship rematch with LSU: Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy. Gundy's team, ranked No. 3 in the BCS behind 1-2 LSU and Alabama, would stand to benefit from a shift in the rankings. However, Gundy said Monday that even he would vote Alabama No. 2 for now. "If somebody sat me down and said you had to make a decision with where we are right now, Alabama lost to what would be the number one team in the country and Oklahoma State lost to Iowa State," Gundy said at his weekly press conference, transcribed on okstate.com. "If I was doing it fair, I don't know how I could put us in front of them right now." A key phrase is at the end - "right now." Gundy might change his tune if his team beats Oklahoma, ranked No. 10 in the BCS, in convincing fashion on Saturday night. He would have a case, one that's growing increasingly popular for fans and media uncomfortable with the idea of rematch in the national championship game. LSU beat Alabama, 9-6, on Nov. 5 in Tuscaloosa. Alabama has beaten three teams with winning records, while Oklahoma State will have beaten five teams in the BCS Top 25 with a win over rival Oklahoma. Oklahoma State will also be the Big 12 champion, while Alabama finished second to LSU in the SEC West. Gundy does not have a vote in the USA Today coaches' poll which is a component of the BCS rankings formula. "I don't vote, but I don't know how you say there are two one-loss teams and one lost to a team that was number one in the country and one lost to a team that was unranked," Gundy said. "Other circumstances may factor in, but that's just my personal opinion." Follow Keith Whitmire on Twitter: @Keith_Whitmire
