As many of you know, I was a little hesitant about the Washington Wizards bringing in Flip Saunders as head coach. But I to say that Flip has said and done all of the right things since arriving in D.C. And no move has been more right than bringing in Sam Cassell as an assistant coach. Bringing in a guy who could, right now, probably give 90 percent of the Wizards roster fits on defense is bound to capture the attention of a young roster than needs to develop championship hunger. He can make guards better with his advice and insight, and can make post players more knowledgeable about reacting to perimeter movement and passing lanes on the interior. From all accounts, he’s a wise dude all around. So in honor of Sam I Am, here’s Coach Cassell giving us a nice little tutorial on the mid-range game, courtesy of Bullets Forever. And as a bonus for Terp fans, the victim of Coach Cassell’s mid-range demo? Duke alumnus and current Polish all-star, Daniel Ewing.
