For some on the 2013 Florida football roster, the season is a time to get back into the sport they love. A year ago and in late October, senior receiver Solomon Patton was on the verge of helping his undefeated team continue on its success when he broke his arm in the Georgia game. The Gators ended up losing the game and Patton was also lost for the year.

Florida has suspended starting cornerback Loucheiz Purifoy and four backups for its home opener against Toledo, according to multiple reports.
The Gainesville Sun first reported the suspensions of Purifoy, backup defensive tackles Darious Cummings and Jay-nard Bostwick, backup wide receiver Latroy Pittman and backup offensive lineman Quinteze Williams.
The Palm Beach Post reported...
If you are swimming in the flood of football news that bounces around sports fannery these days then you probably saw a report that five Florida Gators were suspended for today’s tilt against Tulsa, a matchup between powerhouse programs (Florida is an admirable powerhouse, Tulsa is an embarrassing one). Well, it turns out that not all of those guys were even suspended. One of them...
No. 10 Florida has suspended five players for the season opener against Toledo.
Coach Will Muschamp said earlier in the week that only linebacker Antonio Morrison, who was arrested twice in a five-week span this summer, was suspended for Saturday's game.
But starting cornerback Loucheiz Purifoy, defensive tackle Darious Cummings, wide receiver Latroy Pittman and offensive lineman...
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Mack Brown had a career day, Jeff Driskel was efficient and No. 10 Florida opened the season with a 24-6 victory over Toledo on Saturday.
Brown ran 25 times for 112 yards and two touchdowns. Driskel completed 17 of 22 passes for 153 yards and a score. And Florida's defense, which ranked fifth in the country in 2012, looked every bit as good as last year...

Loucheiz Purifoy is one of six Florida Gators suspended for the team’s opening game on Saturday against Toledo, according to reports. On Wednesday, Gators head coach Will Muschamp said that starting linebacker Antonio Morrison would be the only player suspended for the game. He apparently changed his mind. In addition to Purifoy and Morrison, defensive […]
Before the Florida Gators kicked off their season with a victory against visiting Toledo, an old tradition got a new face.
Former Gators running back Errict Rhett (who starred with Florida from 1990-93 and was first-team All-America in 1993) led the crowd of 83,604 at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in the "Mr. Two Bits" chant.
And, well, as you can see, he got into the moment:
If you are a Florida Gators fan, you are probably breathing a sigh of relief your season starts with a practice game vs. Toledo.
The reason: You'll be without six players for the season kickoff due to a rash of suspensions.
Previously suspended starting linebacker Antonio Morrison will be joined by star cornerback Loucheiz Purifoy and 5 backups...
The Florida Gators jumped off to a good start on Saturday and seemed to coast in the second half against a team that won nine games and a bowl game in 2012. Mack Brown had a career day, Jeff Driskel was efficient and No. 10 Florida opened the season with a 24-6 victory over Toledo on Saturday.
Florida junior quarterback Jeff Driskel was efficient and effective in leading his team to a 24-6 victory over Toledo on Saturday. The Gators returning starter was a very solid 17 of 22 passing for 153 yards and a touchdown, while relying on a strong ground game to put the game away for the Gators.
The Florida Gators had somewhat of a typical home opener Saturday. Not too much flash and dash, a few guys out for disciplinary reasons, and points in the game where they just ween't focused. Nevertheless, the season is here, they are 1-0, and have a big matchup a week from now. Here are some photos from the opener against the Toledo Rockets.
It has been a long time coming and the 2013 football season is upon us. The Florida Gators open the season at home in The Swamp against a pretty good and 2012 bowl team in Toledo. The Rockets bring a high flying offense to Gainesville and are looking for an upset. The Gators are looking to get off to a strong start.
