Great find by Rob at Black Sports Online. I’ve always loved Penny Hardaway. Even at Memphis he seemed like a player destined for the NBA Hall of Fame because he was so unique. However, his actual NBA career was derailed by injuries and never really hit his potential. So, watching this video of Penny hitting a game-winning shot stirs up some mixed emotions. I’m happy he can still play and isn’t hobbling around completely broken. But I can’t shake the thought he should still be doing this in the NBA as a 9th man on somebody’s bench, finishing out a surefire Hall of Fame career. I think Rob summed it all up best: Anything that you have a passion for, even if you can’t do it at a high level, you want to participate in. So I am not surprised Penny is playing ball with Joe the Plumber in a rec league. He is a basketball player, they ball. He seems in good spirits after he knocks down the game winner. Just makes you wonder what could have been if he had stay...
