Peyton Manning attended Sunday's Colorado Rockies-New York Mets game as a guest of his old teammate at the University of Tennessee Todd Helton and got a chance to see his friend hit a pinch hit grand slam.
The Denver Broncos new quarterback jumped up from his seat, pointed his finger in the air and high-fived a guy siting next to him as Helton's blast tied the game at 4-4 in the 8th inning.
Manning and Helton were both quarterbacks at UT in the 90's and now get a chance to play in the Mile High City in their respective sports.
Helton's blast eventually lost some its lustre, after New York's Ike Davis singled in David Wright from third in the 11th inning for a 6-5 Mets victory in front of 37,000 fans at Coors Field.

We wanted to post Peyton Manning’s first picture (that we know of) in a Denver Broncos uniform. The picture is from DirecTV.com, where they posted an interview with Deion Sanders, Peyton Manning and Eli Manning on their website in order to promote the NFL Sunday Ticket for the upcoming season.

Todd Helton blasted the Rockies back into the game.If there is one thing that is certain so far in the Colorado Rockies 2012 season, it is that Todd Helton is quieting the critics. On Sunday, after spending seven and a half innings on the bench, Helton pinch hit with the bases loaded and two outs. The Rockies hopes looked bleak, after another Johan Santana gem against them put them...
The Denver Broncos drafted their quarterback of the future this weekend, when they took Brock Osweiler of Arizona State.
Broncos head coach John Fox feels like he’s the guy they can develop to take over when Manning retires.
“I don’t think it’s one of those things where Peyton Manning feels threatened by any stretch,” Broncos coach John Fox jokingly said, according to The...
Peyton Manning felt right at home with Todd Helton and the Colorado Rockies.
Manning dropped by Coors Field on Sunday morning to visit his pal before the Rockies played the New York Mets.
Manning and Helton were quarterbacks at the University of Tennessee in the mid-1990s. Manning recently signed with the Denver Broncos to become their new QB.

The Denver Broncos targeted quarterback Brock Osweiler with the No. 57 pick of the 2012 NFL Draft.
Osweiler is an excellent leader with the arm to eventually make all of the throws at the next level, but is raw as he was just a one-year starter at Arizona St. With that said, Osweiler falls into a great spot, as he gets the luxury of learning from a future Hall of Famer...

The NFL is forever changing. When it first originated, the forward pass was as widely used as it is today. The effectiveness of Vince Lombardi’s power sweep run package was as unstoppable as it comes. Then, Walter Peyton and O.J. Simpson were dazzling defenses with...
By signing Peyton Manning, the Denver Broncos gave themselves a three-year window in which they can make a serious run at the Super Bowl. But their selections in this draft class raise some questions about the direction this franchise is headed.
Derek Wolfe was a reach in the early 2nd round. John Fox was clearly looking for a penetrating three-technique tackle but, while Wolfe is...
The Denver Broncos are heading into the 2012 NFL regular season with QB Peyton Manning under center, which additional pieces was Denver able to surround him with for next season? Short answer? Not many. With seven picks in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos added just three offensive players and only two might help out Manning in 2012. Bronco’s head coach John Fox, a defensive...
Denver Broncos fans waited for a long time.
All of the draft parties and fans sitting around their TVs waiting for that exciting pick in the first round were sadly disappointed. But John Elway reminded everyone that it is a long draft and the Broncos needed to do what was best to improve the team. Now, after three days of waiting, Broncos fans may still be wondering when this profound...
Yesterday was just a heart pounding game for the Mets. In case you missed it, the Mets were gliding through the game nicely until Todd Helton tied the game on a pinch hit grand slam, and at that point it was a back and forth battle through the 11th inning when the Mets got ahead and took the series. The Mets overall in their last series scored 21 runs over 3 games and now go to Houston...

How has Bryce Harper not hit a home run yet? It's been two days! I want to see his major league trot. I guess we can just safely write him off as a bust then, huh? So sad.
Meanwhile, plenty of other big leaguers cleared the fences yesterday. Let's get to those trots!

In Doug’s Dugout today, we discuss comebacks, a Hot Reuben Sandwich, and other insipid thoughts:
I will give the Mets kudos for not folding like a child’s tent in a wind storm, after Todd Helton (another Met killer) pinch-hit a grand slam off of Tim Byrdak in yesterday’s 8th inning. Byrdak has been perfect, but never, ever, never, throw one down and in to a lefty.
